The Lares trek is a must for bird-lovers,as you will see a diverse range of Andean birdlife as we trek up and down and around the lush green mountains of the Sacred Valley.Along the way we will pass through and set up camp by many small Andean villages and get an insight to their daily lives,eventually arriving at our destination of Lares,where we will enjoy a well deserved relaxing afternoon in the thermal hot springs.
Itinerary For Lares Trek
Day 1 – Pick up at 6.30am from your hotel in bus and arrive at Huaran,approx. 2 hours from Cusco,where we will start the trek.A fairly easy 5 hour walk along the Cancha Cancha River until we reach our destination of a quaint Andean village where we will camp for the night.
Day 2 – After a hearty breakfast,we head up to the highest point of the trek,Pachacutec Pass.We will see a large range of Andean birdlife including Andean geese,flamingos and Andean ibis along the way.We will eat our lunch while taking in the incredible views of snow-capped mountains,lush green valleys and waterfalls.After lunch,we continue to the village of Quiswarani where we will set up camp for the night.
Day 3 – After breakfast,we climb for 3 hours to arrive at Huillquijasa Pass where the views are absolutely spectacular.Passing many beautiful turquoise lakes along the way,we arrive at our final destination at Lares,where we can spend hours relaxing in the hot springs.Here is where we will camp for the night.
Day 4 – Relaxing is what day 4 is all about,a leisurely breakfast,and after,nothing to do but sit and enjoy the hot springs.
We will arrive in Cusco in the afternoon by bus.
