Itinerary

Day 1.- We will pick you up from your hotel around 5 am. From Cuzco, we will travel by bus, approximately four hours, to the small village of Cachora. Here we will meet our horsemen and cooks. From Cachora, we will begin our trek along the edge of the Apurimac Canyon, where you will be able to enjoy the vast landscape full of a variety of beautiful plants and animals. After about eight hours of hiking, we will reach our campsite, Santa Rosa (1650m/5413ft).

DAY 2.- We will wake up around 6 am for breakfast. From here, we will hike for about four hours, ascending 1500m to the Inca site of Choquekirao. The afternoon will be spent eating lunch and exploring around this miraculous archeological site through a four hour guided tour. Around the site you will be able to view the nearby snow-capped mountains of Soray and Tuncarway, a number of medicinal herbs and plants, and a variety of animal life such as the condor, fox, and possibly the spectacular bear. Choquekirao will be out campsite for the second night (3033m/9950ft).

DAY 3.- We will awake around 6 am for breakfast. After breakfast, we will enjoy a very relaxing hike for about five hours down to the Apurimac River . We will enjoy our lunch sitting along the Apurimac river, and have a chance for a swim. After lunch, we will hike for about one and a half hours more to our campsite of Chiquisca.

DAY 4.- We will wake around 4 am, eat breakfast and begin our last day of hiking with a three hour ascension. The trail will then flatten out, and we will continue walking for about four more hours to Cachora. Here we will have lunch and then catch the bus back to Cuzco.
